After I finished reading this book last month, I couldn’t wait to watch this movie. Considering how much I loved the book, I wanted to see it brought to life and how it would all be played out. And honestly, I absolutely loved it. Edward Norton starred as the Narrator, Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden and Helena Bonham Carter as Marla Singer. I don’t think I could have picked actors any more perfect for those roles. I thought it was really awesome seeing them all together, especially since I was so used to seeing Helena play Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter movies. Also, 30 Seconds to Mars lead singer, Jared Leto had a small part in this movie, which was really cool to see considering I’m a fan of his music. Most of this movie was actually very true to the book: there were a lot of direct quotes from the text. The only thing I didn’t really like was how it all ended. It was totally different than what happened in the book, but I guess it was alright. So if you love Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club, I suggest you see this film right away.

After seeing Deathly Hallows Part 2 again, I realized really now much of the ending of the movie was changed. Really, the whole timeline of events was altered. All the events leading up to the big moment (when Harry finally defeats Voldemort) were totally different than what happened in the book.
After Harry is “killed” by Voldemort and has the dream thing of him and Dumbledore at King’s Cross station, Voldemort thinks he is actually dead. Voldemort then announces to the population of Hogwarts that Harry was indeed defeated. Narcissa Malfoy, Harry and we as readers are the only ones who know Harry is actually alive. A lot of important quotes were cut of out this scene in the movie. Ron is supposed to shout “He beat you!” referring that Harry really beat Voldemort, even though he is dead.
Neville is supposed to step up to Voldemort and defy him. When Voldemort asked for people do join him as Death Eaters, Neville is supposed to say, “I’ll join you when hell freezes over! Dumbledore’s Army!” I had been waiting for the moment for the four years since the book has been released. I couldn’t wait to hear the words come out of Matt Lewis’s mouth. The fact that Neville did not say that really upset me. That one simple quote was supposed to show Neville’s transformation from the little scared boy with a pet toad, to the hero with Gryffindor’s sword. In the movie, Neville made some speech about how it was okay that Harry died, because people die every day. Even though Harry died he still lives on in our hearts. Although I liked that little speech, it did not fit the moment. This wasn’t supposed to be some heart-touching moment. The crowd was supposed to be angry and upset and rebellious. Voldemort is then is supposed to summon the Sorting Hat onto Neville’s head, explaining that there will be no more Houses at Hogwarts. Then, he demonstrates what happens to people who continue to oppose him. The hat is set on fire, along with Neville. Out of nowhere, Neville is the hero again. Neville kills Nagini with Gryffindor’s sword, slicing her head right off. This doesn’t happen in the movie. Harry (who is on the floor, at the feet of Hagrid) was then supposed to put on the Invisibility Cloak and cast an Shield Charm, protecting Neville and the others from Voldemort. Hagrid and everyone else finally realize Harry has disappeared, and then the fighting begins again. You all know what happens next. In the movie, Harry doesn’t use the Cloak and everyone sees him run away. Then Harry and Voldemort fight some more, Neville is knocked out for a while, and Ron and Hermione chase after Nagini, trying to kill her. I understand it builds up suspense, but it totally messes with the plot of the book.
And, after all the battles are over and Harry has one, he’s supposed to go off with Ron and Hermione into Dumbledore’s old office and fix Harry’s broken wand with the Elder wand, which doesn’t happen in the movie. Harry is supposed to say “I’ve had enough trouble for a lifetime.” I can’t explain how upset I am this was not said in the movie. I felt like it was one of the most important things said and summed up everything very well. Also, at the end of the whole book, after Harry touches his scar which hasn’t pained him in nineteen years, the last line is “All was well.” I really wished that was used in the movie as a kind of “the end” for the series. I think it would have been perfect.
I could never say that I dislike or hate a Harry Potter movie. But I am disappointed. I was just waiting for certain parts for SO long, and I’m upset so many of my favorite lines were not included.

I started this movie thinking of the book and how much I loved it. To my disappointment, the movie wasn’t I would have expected it to be. First of all, Kyle, the main character, wasn’t even turned into a hairy beast, like in the book. He was transformed into a weirdly tattooed, veiny and scarred Voldemort-type guy. I feel like that really let go of it being a modern Beauty and the Beast. Another reason why this movie just wasn’t my cup of tea is that it was just kind of plain old boring. After halfway through the film, I had no desire to watch the rest. It just wasn’t grabbing and keeping a hold on my attention.
The one thing I really liked about this film was Neil Patrick Harris. He played Kyle’s tutor, Will, who also happens to be blind. I feel like he did the best job out of the whole cast. Yes, even better than Vanessa Hudgens.
If you read the book and loved it, I’d suggest not watching this film. It doesn’t do the book justice.

Okay, here we go. I had been waiting for the moment I’d see this movie for four years. I was lucky enough to see it at midnight, and I couldn’t believe it was happening. I got to see the movie in 3D, and it was my first time seeing a movie in the theater in 3D. Although the 3D didn’t really add much to the movie, it was still interesting and worked for a lot of the parts. I enjoyed it. Also, the 3D glasses were shaped like Harry’s glasses.
I have mixed emotions about this film. First of all, it is the last Harry Potter film. I never imagined that it would actually happen. Since I basically grew up with Harry, it was weird finally realizing there was nothing more Harry Potter related to look forward to. I will honestly say I was a little disappointed with this movie. There were many changes to the plotline, especially at the end of the movie. I just felt that the events leading up to the overall end shouldn’t be changed. It all felt rushed. I felt like I was in and out of the theater in no time. Part 1 seemed longer. Also, there were those certain moments and quotes from the books that I just couldn’t wait to see and hear and just find out how it was interpreted. A lot of significant and important quotes weren’t included. I was pretty upset about that. I waiting so long to see certain parts, and they weren’t even included. Maybe I just expected too much?
But, this was a Harry potter movie. There is no way I could say that I disliked it in anyway. This movie was action-packed from start to finish. It had everyone in the theater laughing, crying, and cheering and on the edge of their seats as the movie played. It was a truly great film. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were absolutely fantastic. Alan Rickman stole the show. He was amazing. The whole cast was fabulous. I can’t believe this is the last Harry Potter movie. And I won’t doubt that I’ll be at the theater to see it again.

My mom had read this book and seen the movie a while ago and I was in the mood for some Leonardo DiCaprio, so I decided to watch this today. Basically, Leonardo DiCaprio plays a U.S. marshal named Teddy Daniels and his partner, Chuck Aule, who are both U.S. marshals go to Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane on Shutter Island to find a missing patient, Rachel Solando. Shutter Island is located in Boston Harbor. Rachel was one of the more dangerous patients, for she was in the mental hospital in the first place for murdering her three children. Teddy Daniels has some problems of his own, too: his wife died in a fire, and he is searching for the man who deliberately set the house on fire.
The plot of this movie has so many twists and half of it is totally unexpected, especially the ending. It made me want to read the book. At first, the movie was really confusing and a little hard to follow, but in the end I really loved it. If you watch it, remember: everything is not what it seems.

The book is by Dennis Lehane.

I don’t think I can describe how much I loved watching this movie. I got to watch it in school, and I feel like some of the kids didn’t enjoy the movie as much as I did. The movie was almost exactly like the book, but with few plot changes to keep everyone interested and the story moving along. There were even some direct quotes from the book – word-for-word quotes. I love when that happens. I feel like the girl who played Scout was perfect. She looked exactly like I pictured her in my head while reading the book. Jem was pretty close to how I imagined him too. I thought Atticus would have looked a little bit older, but I like the way he was depicted. Overall, this movie is great. I went in with high expectations, because I loved the book, and I was satisfied.

So, I went into this movie with high hopes. This book was absolutely fabulous and inspiring, could the movie ever live up to it?
Well, surprisingly, it basically did. I mean, it will never be as amazing as book, but isn’t that always the case? I really liked how the movie was set up. The movie started out when Craig checks into the hospital and he has flashbacks at certain points explaining his situation with his family, school, friends, etc.
Keir Gilchrist played Craig and he did a fantastic job. I feel like he really brought Craig’s personality to life. Also, Zach Galifianakis and Emma Roberts starred in this film. Zach played Bobby, Craig’s used-to-be-druggie friend who helps him sort out his problems while in the hospital. And Emma played Noelle, Craig’s scarred love interest that also helped him out along the way. I was also surprised to see Jeremy Davies, who played Smitty and starred in my favorite TV show, Lost. I felt this whole cast was just great all around, especially the other hospital members.
The one thing I was worried about though was the aspect of Craig drawing the brain maps. I thought that was going to be left out, to be honest. But thankfully, it was added in the movie and the idea of the healing power of art was brought to life.
Overall, this was a fantastic movie. If you love the book as much as I do, you will definitely love the movie.

I have been waiting three years for this movie, even though it is only half of the whole. But let me tell you, it was definitely worth the wait.
My friends and I all went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.
We were ready for all the fight scenes and sad, teary-eyed moments, and believe me, they were all there. Tears actually did come to my eyes at some moments, while some other times I was smiling and laughing along with all of the characters.
The one thing I really, really appreciated about this movie was that it didn’t stray away from the book. There were actually some direct quotes and dialogue word-for-word from the book in the movie. I was really, really happy about that.
To all of my Potterheads out there, if you have not seen this movie yet, or are planning on seeing it, I suggest you do it right away! HP7 Part 1 is filled with tons of action and even some light-hearted, funny moments.
I am so glad I got to have the experience of seeing this movie phenomenon at midnight and I can’t wait until July 15th, 2011!

I felt like I had stepped into one of J.K. Rowling’s books. With Hogwarts castle off in the distance, Hogsmeade winds its way toward the school with cobble-stoned and store-lined streets. Stores like Honeyduke’s, Zonko’s, Ollivander’s and The Three Broomsticks. And even more. Everything is just as you would imagine it while reading the books and what was depicted in the movies.
The Hogwarts castle itself was absolutely gorgeous. It was perfect. I can’t even put into words how amazing and breathtaking it was. I could probably go on for hours about it.
I didn’t get the chance to go on the two roller coasters (although they did look really cool), but I did go on the ride inside the castle: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. This ride made you feel like you were flying along with Ron on his broomstick, fighting the Hungarian Horntail with Harry and playing Quidditch with Malfoy. It was so intense; I loved it.
If you ever get the chance to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you MUST go on the Forbidden Journey ride!
Going to Hogwarts has been my childhood dream since I first cracked open and dove into the magical world of Harry Potter. This was definitely a dream come true.

Vampires Suck TrailerWhen I first walked into the movie theater to see Vampires Suck, I was actually excited. I was ready to see a funny comedy that bashed Twilight and the entire vampire craze.
Too bad that didn’t happen. All the hype for Vampires Suck made the movie seem so much better than it actually is. Basically the movie is a combination of Twilight and New Moon. Instead of Bella as the main character, her name is Becca. There were few parts of this movie that was actually funny. I laughed maybe two or three times, but it wasn’t like I was rolling on the floor laughing. It barely had a plotline, even if it was a spoof of the Twilight movies. Some stuff just didn’t make sense.
I don’t know. I just don’t think this movie was as great as everyone thought it was going to be. I suggest you don’t waste your money on Vampires Suck.
