Liz Hall died at the age of fifteen. At first, she doesn’t even remember that she is dead. When she wakes up on the SS Nile on her way to Elsewhere, she realizes what has happened. Elsewhere is where people go once they die, in which they age backwards from the age they died at. Once the person has aged back to a baby, they are sent back down the River to return to Earth. But Liz doesn’t want to get younger and relive her childhood years. She wants to turn sixteen, get a driver’s license, graduate school, and fall in love. Can all of that happen when you are dead and living a reversed life?
Okay, so I don’t really know how I feel about this book. Really, I thought this was going to be an awesome book. I thought the whole idea of aging backwards was totally original. The description mentioned a couple dead famous people, so I thought Liz might get to meet them, but she didn’t. Also, at a few points in this book it got a little juvenile, especially the clichéd main point to this book: “A life isn’t measured in hours and minutes. It’s the quality, not the length.”
I don’t know…this book just didn’t click with me.
