Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

My Rating: 4 stars

Meggie Folchart’s life changes when she realizes her dad, Mo the bookbinder has an amazing power: when he reads aloud, he can bring characters from books into the real world. But the downside is: if something comes out of the book, something from the real world goes in.
When Meggie was young, her dad was reading a book, Inkheart, and many of the characters came into the real world. But, Meggie’s mother, Teresa was sucked into the book. Meggie and Mo’s adventure searching for the book Inkheart and its original author takes them through Europe. But will they be able to set everything straight again?
The thing I really liked about this book was how Mo was about to read characters out of a book. Ever since I read Inkheart I thought that was the most astounding thing ever, because I would love to do that myself (except for the part of something from the real world being sucked in). Also, I liked how this book was originally written in another language, German, and was translated into English.

Hey Bri! Us fellow book nerds gotta stick together! lol There are two more books after this one that are even better, Inkspell and Inkdeath. I bet you already knew that 🙂 And did you see the Inkheart movie? It was awful. They changed the whole story and made it clear they weren’t making movies for the other books. That kinda makes me relieved though. I can’t stand to see another good book being ruined by a movie!

I LOVE this series. If you haven’t read the other two novels in the series, Inkspell and Inkdeath, you really should. I would also recommend The Thief Lord, which is also by Cornelia Funke.

I actually have all three books by Cornelia Funke. I guess I just lost interest in them. But I might give them a try another time. Thanks for the suggestion!
